The United Professional Basketball League is not being created to compete with existing sports leagues. It is being established to redefine how professional basketball is commercialised in South Africa and, ultimately, across Africa. The UPBL represents a generational opportunity to build the continent’s first truly modern sports media platform — one designed from the ground up for the commercial realities of 2027 and beyond.
